BASICALLY, JOHNNY MOPED

BASICALLY, JOHNNY MOPED + Q&A – SCREEN25 FUNDRAISER at Screen25 (13 APR 19:45):

We are excited to present a screening of Basically, Johnny Moped – Fred Burns’ funny and often moving documentary about Croydon’s long lost punk legends.

Originally intended as a fundraiser for a new projector, we hit our crowdfunding target a week early, so now all ticket proceeds from this event will go towards the costs of a much-needed premise license.

In 1970s London a group of school friends from Selhurst found themselves at the heart of a burgeoning punk scene after they decided to form a band. With early band members including Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders, and South Norwood’s own Captain Sensible from The Damned, fame seemed inevitable for punk pioneers Johnny Moped. However, things didn’t quite go as expected…

Join us to celebrate the band’s legacy in our very own Harris Academy, formerly Stanley Tech and Captain Sensible’s old school. Courtesy of Fred Burns and Dartmouth Films.

We are very excited to be joined in person by Johnny Moped himself and his two former band mates Xerxes and Dave Berk, who will be taking part in a Q&A after the film!

Plus licensed bar and raffle.
