16th March 2019 @ 19:00 - 22:30

Films in London today: FRAU IM MOND at St Barnabas Church (16 MAR).

Pitshanger Pictures presents: FRAU IM MOND d. Fritz Lang, 1929 + LIVE ORGAN ACCOMPANIMENT at St Barnabas Church, Ealing (16 MAR 19:00):

Once again Pitshanger Pictures will be showing a full length silent feature film accompanied by the first class recently restored organ within St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, W5 1QG. Our film this time is another Fritz Lang masterpiece, his last silent movie; FRAU IM MOND aka “Woman in the Moon”. It is our tribute to the 50th anniversary of the first actual moon landing.

FRAU IM MOND is (a) The first feature-length film to portray space-exploration in a serious manner, paying close attention to the science involved in launching a vessel from the surface of the earth to the valleys of the moon. (b) A tri-polar potboiler of a picture that manages to combine espionage tale, serial melodrama, and comic-book sci-fi into a storyline that is by turns delirious, hushed, and deranged. (c) A movie so rife with narrative contradiction and visual ingenuity that it could only be the work of one filmmaker: Fritz Lang.

This is a unique occasion not to be missed by both film fans and organ enthusiasts.

The film will start at 19:00 and there will be two intervals (to give the organist time to recover as it is 163 minutes long). Entrance is £8/£6 (under 16), snacks and drinks will be available to purchase.

Tickets can be purchased HERE.
