HARD PAINT aka Tinta Bruta screens at The Cinema Museum (25 APR 19:00):
ReShape and the Cinema Museum present the third season of the VITO Project, a series of free monthly screenings bringing generations of LGBTs together to provide an alternative space to mix, watch films and share ideas.
The VITO Project is proud to present HARD PAINT aka Tinta Bruta (2018), a Brazilian film recently shown at the Berlinale Film Festival, where it won the Teddy Award for best LGBTQ feature, and BFI Flare.
Written and directed by Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon, HARD PAINT tells the story of Pedro (Shico Menegat), a shy young gay man who at night transforms himself into sexually provocative webcam performer ‘NeonBoy’, whose online act involves him smearing himself in fluorescent body paint.
“Tonally, Matzembacher and Reolon perform a deft balancing act, crafting a character study that is empathetic and emotionally engaging, but unflinching and unsentimental. HARD PAINT is also unapologetically erotic, often exposing the essence of its characters through arresting explicit imagery” – Paul O’Callaghan, BFI.
The screening will be followed by an open discussion.
