JOURNEY’S END + Q&A
January 24 @ 18:50 - 21:30
PICTUREHOUSE CENTRAL presents: JOURNEY’S END + Q&A with cast & crew.
Wonderful acting from an adroit cast powers this big-screen revival of R. C. Sherriff’s 1928 play about British soldiers struggling to survive in the stifling trenches of the First World War. A portrait of six men facing the unbearable, JOURNEY’S END focuses on how their relationships evolve as the inevitable approaches.
In March 1918, C Company moves onto the front line in northern France. A German attack is imminent, but the war-weary Captain Stanhope (Claflin) knows their chances of survival are slim. His officers (Bettany, Sturridge, Graham) and cook (Jones) distract themselves as they await their fate. Joining them in the dugout is naïve new recruit Raleigh (Butterfield), the brother of Stanhope’s fiancée. He’s fresh from training and eager for action, but, over the course of one devastating week, the scales are ripped from his wide eyes.
We are delighted to welcome director Saul Dibb, writer Simon Reade, producer Guy de Beaujeu and actors Asa Butterfield and Stephen Graham for a Q&A following this screening.
