Classic Cinema Club – Ealing presents: QUADROPHENIA d. Franc Roddam, 1979 at University of West London, Weston Hall St Mary’s Road, Ealing W5 5RF (15 FEB 19:00):
The iconic Pete Townshend and Franc Roddam film – a musical tribute to pre-1960s Mods and Rockers, presented as part of the Ealing Music & Film Festival.
QUADROPHENIA started life as a rock opera and album in 1973. The soundtrack album of the 1979 film was initially released on Polydor Records in 1979 and re-released as a compact disc in 1993 and 2001. The album was dedicated to Peter Meaden, a prominent Mod and first manager of The Who, who had died a year prior to the album’s release. The album contains ten of the seventeen tracks from the original rock opera, as not all of the opera’s tracks were used in the film. The soundtrack also includes three tracks by The Who that did not appear on the 1973 album.
