SAINT ETIENNE

HEAVENLY FILMS presents: A double bill of Saint Etienne films, made with director Paul Kelly.

Films are:

THIS IS TOMORROW (2008)

Pop band Saint Etienne and director Paul Kelly’s film about London’s Royal Festival Hall made whilst they were artists in residence at The Southbank. The film documents the original post war construction as well as the hall’s complete refurbishment between 2005-2007 which has once again made it London’s cultural centre. Includes rare interview footage with the original architects and designers including Leonard Manasseh and Robin Day.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TODAY MELVYN DAY (2005)

Shot during the summer of 2005, this enigmatic film was the second collaboration between the Saint Etienne and director Paul Kelly. It follows a young paperboy’s adventure across London’s last remaining wilderness in the Lea Valley on the eve of the Olympic development. A poetic ode to a metropolitan hinterland that has been forever changed by the impact of the 2012 Olympics games. Beautifully soundtracked by Saint Etienne.
