NOW BOOKING: Drive In Film Club (from 12 APR+)

Ahead of cinema reopening, the drive-ins get a chance to rev their engines. Rooftop Film Club reopens with two London venues, Alexandra Palace & Brent Cross from 12 APR+.

Whilst much of the reopening attention is being paid to the return of the indoor cinema experience from MAY 17, let’s not forget the return of the drive-ins 5 weeks earlier from 12 APR.

The lovely people behind Rooftop Film Club are revving up for two drive-in locations in London, adding Brent Cross to their established residency at Alexandra Palace. Of course, you could also drive your car to another new location at Sandown Coach Park in Surrey, but that’s slightly beyond our cinematic boarders…!

In addition to the new locations, Rooftop Film Club has pimped their ride with the addition of personal speakers for each car (replacing the old system which used your car radio). Given that this is still the era of COVID-19, you’re still asked to stay within your car to watch the film and use all their online ordering and contact-free delivery services to refresh your experience.

Organisers are promising a programme with some:

“Absolute blockbusting belters for you from cult classics to new releases, romcoms to thrillers and horror to humour.”

Rooftop Film Club

In addition to the general programme, there are some special themed events for the new Brent Cross location.

The London Classics Weekender celebrates St. George’s Day (from 23rd April) and features SPICE WORLD (1997), AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981), SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004) and PADDINGTON (2014) amongst others. Then you can “dust off your shoulder pads and show off your lockdown mullets” for an 80s Weekender from 30 APR featuring E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL (1882), A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984), DO THE RIGHT THING (1989) and FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF (1986). That all leads seamlessly into Feel Good Week (from 03 MAY) which kicks off with CLUELESS (1995). Finally, if you’ve got room in your car, you can pamper your pooches with a pet-friendly special complete with doggy popcorn on 02 MAY to mark National Pet Month. Choose from SCOOB! (if you must…), RATATOUILLE (2007) and ISLE OF DOGS (2018).

> Drive In Film Club is booking now at Rooftop Film Club (dates from 12 APR+).
