Photographer and filmmaker William Klein’s satire on the worlds of fashion and television is the most stylish you’ll see. Beautifully shot using a variety of techniques with a cast of bonkers but recognisable characters WHO ARE YOU, POLLY MAGGOO? includes crowd scenes in 1967 Paris perfectly capturing the energy and honesty of Klein’s own street scene photographs for which he first became famous.
Thirty years ahead of its time but perfectly capturing the Pop Art celebrity-obsessed era, WHO ARE YOU, POLLY MAGGOO? predicted the explosion of access-all-area reality TV. Filmed in a time that saw the dawn of a global meritocracy where models (Polly Maggoo, played here by real life model Dorothy McGowan) rubbed shoulders with Princes (played here by Bande a part’s Sami Frei) and musicians with spies as TV exploded as The medium with The message … but will Polly ever get her Prince?
