NOW BOOKING: Films in London this month [JUNE 2018]

RADIANT CIRCUS is your handcrafted guide to London’s DIY, indie & alternative movie nights, film events & gallery screenings. Our latest SCREEN GUIDE helps you find repertory seasons & film festivals in London this month [JUNE 2018].

> FILMS IN LONDON THIS MONTH by: SEASONS // FESTIVALS

Welcome to our JUNE roundup.

Each month we look ahead to London’s MUSEUM SHOWS where you can find several attractions under one roof. Our listings are divided into repertory seasons and film festivals. We’ll keep you updated on all London’s one-off screenings including film clubs, meet the talent Q&As and other special events in our weekly digests and daily updates.

We’ve stopped listing – for now – London’s moving image exhibitions because we don’t currently have the capacity at Radiant Circus to do it right. Hopefully, we’ll be back on it very soon.

There are several excellent repertory seasons* opening across town this month, but we thought we’d focus on two that really impress.

(*Check out, amongst many others, AVA DUVERNAY and IDA LUPINO at BFI, PRIDE MONTH at Ciné Lumière, JUST THE TWO OF US? at Classic Cinema Club Ealing, the HARMONY KORINE WEEKENDER at Deptford Cinema and A ONE AND A TWO… THE FILMS OF EDWARD YANG at Close-Up.)

We start the month with Barbican’s weekend of 1970s feminist filmmakers, ARTISTS & ACTIVISTS. Continuing the venue’s tradition of outstanding seasons dedicated to social change – and following last month’s sold out RETURNING THE COLONIAL GAZE – you really should get booking…

Continuing to focus on women in film, our featured attraction of the month becomes HER NAME IS… at Genesis Cinema. We love how the Mile End venue has marshalled the forces of all their regular collaborators – Trumans, MUBI, Fringe!, Orbital Comics, Rochester Kino, Dispatch FMI, CinemaItaliaUK and more – to compile an outstanding collection of vivid female-centred stories. Also a partner in Birds’ Eye View’s important #ReclaimTheFrame initiative (which returns to Genesis next month), Genesis really is leading by example.

What are you going to see?
