FRI 13 // SAT 14 // SUN 15 // MON 16 // TUE 17 // WED 18 // THU 19

Welcome to our weekly digest of films in London this week.

It’s great to see so many of London’s excellent independent curators and promoters projecting their wares this week. Highlights include: THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN from Science Fiction Theatre (16 JUL); NETFL!X AND KILL from Billy Chainsaw’s Nova Nights (16 JUL); PIN CUSHION from Birds’ Eye View (17 JUL); IMAGES from The Final Girls (17 JUL); FLAWLESS from The Celluloid Sorceress (18 JUL); and, KIPPS from Kennington Bioscope (18 JUL).

Elsewhere, there’s a healthy smattering of repertory horror (see our Featured Attraction of the week) and strong openings for new docs PATH OF BLOOD + Q&A, GENERATION WEALTH + PRERECORDED Q&A, and SPITFIRE + PRERECORDED Q&A.

Of course, if it’s Sunday, it simply must be Frederick Wiseman…

The summer is a quieter time for film festivals, but we really like the look of Stow Film Lounge’s celebration of The Children Film Foundation for Walthamstow Garden Party (14 to 15 JUL). Time to relive those 60s & 70s teatime adventures.

> What are you going to see?

Featured attraction: Double Bill: DEMONS + DEMONS 2 presented by Arrow Films at Genesis Cinema (14 JUL 20:00 – Free!): “DEMONS is one cool cucumber. It’s often hard to tell whether the film’s satirizing the cold excess of 1980s horror cinema or actively indulging it (probably both), and that ambiguity informs even the redundant sequences with latent tension.” – Slant Magazine.
