Welcome to our digest of indie films in London this week.

Our Barker-In-Chief’s “see all the features from the year you were born” completism continues with LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH at Everyman Late (23 JUN) which in turn triggers a neat “rarely screened horror” double with MIRROR MIRROR + INTRO by The Final Girls at BFI (28 JUN). And don’t forget spurty French thriller STRANGER BY THE LAKE at Ciné Lumière (23 JUN).

For any lover of film music, the RYUICHI SAKAMOTO doc is sold out at BFI but screens again with a Q&A at ICA (23 JUN). Factual films are scattered across our listings with SAVING BRINTON also at ICA (26 JUN), the celebration of 70 years of the NHS at BFI (26 JUN), Frontline’s look behind the scenes of the World Cup (26 JUN), and all three of our grind show picks: ARCADIA, BOOM FOR REAL and THE MILK SYSTEM.

Strong programming continues aplenty with The Prince Charles pushing some interesting rep titles to the fore with NOTHING BUT A MAN (25 JUN) and WHEN A WOMAN ASCENDS THE STAIRS (26 JUN). New East Cinema returns to the Barbican with IT’S NOT THE TIME OF MY LIFE + SCREENTALK with director Szabolcs Hajdu (27 JUN).

As to seasons, our featured attraction of the month – HER NAME IS… at Genesis Cinema – continues to profile female-centred stories through the venue’s roster of regular collaborators. Film London supremo Adrian Wootton curates a season dedicated to MARCO BELLOCCHIO at both Ciné Lumière and BFI (from 22 JUN) and there’s a last chance screening of A BRIGHTER SUMMER DAY at Close-Up (24 JUN).
