FILMS IN LONDON TODAY
SINGLE-O EXHIBITS
ELVIS PRESLEY’S ’68 COMEBACK SPECIAL at Peckhamplex (16 AUG 20:30).
- It’s been 50 years since Elvis Presley – the undisputed king of rock – performs in this legendary concert recorded on December 3, 1968. Originally airing as a TV special, having not appeared on stage in front of a live audience for more than seven years, this spectacular performance is seen by many as the Memphis icon’s most substantial achievement as a stage performer.
- Also at Genesis Cinema (16 AUG 18:30) and Phoenix Cinema (16 AUG 18:30).
QUEERCORE: A CELEBRATION OF OUTSIDER PRIDE at Genesis Cinema (16 AUG 20:45):
- The People’s Film Club, The Outside Project and Fringe! Festival are teaming up to bring a night of queer celebration. We will be celebrating the ‘outsider’ subcultures that queer communities have pioneered – creating their own cultural spaces on the fringes of a homophobic and heteronormative society.
STEP at CentrE17 (16 AUG 19:30):
- Last Frame Club presents: The true-life story of a girls’ high-school step team set against the background of the heart of Baltimore. These young women learn to laugh, love and thrive – on and off the stage – even when the world seems to work against them.
