  • SUPAKINO presents: Indian cinema meets the rest of the world in a mix of movies that share themes, stories and genres. Things kick off with a musical incarceration double feature. First up, Elvis Presley’s iconic role in JAILHOUSE ROCK (1957). Then we jump a few decades and a continent or two to modern day India, with Ranjit Tiwari’s LUCKNOW CENTRAL (2017).

  • This event looks at the way French Cinema has told the story of those form North Africa who sought a new life in post-colonial France. Fatima lives on her own with two daughters to support: fifteen-year old Souad, a rebellious teenager, and eighteen-year old Nesrine, who is about to start medical school.

  • Directed by feminist collective Sister of Jam IT TAKES A MILLION YEARS TO BE A WOMAN is a portrait of feminist activist, writer and artist Kate Millett at the feminist art colony she founded in 1978 in Poughkeepsie USA. Kate Millett’s THREE LIVES is a moving, proud, calm, aggressively self‐contained documentary feature, about what it’s like to be the three very different women who talk about their lives.

  • SCUOLA SENZA FINE (School Without End) was directed by Adriana Monti in collaboration with students from the adult education 150 Hour Secondary School diploma course with whom she had been working for a year. PRIVILEGE, directed by Yvonne Rainer, is seemingly a straight-forward documentary in which women are interviewed about their experience of the menopause – a subject that has been virtually invisible on film.
