SCREEN GUIDE: What’s on in London this week [08 to 14 JUL 2022]
Our RADIANT CIRCUS guide to what’s on in London this week across DIY, indie & alternative cinema, including one-off screen events, film seasons, film festivals & new releases.
By RADIANT CIRCUS // Twitter @radiantcircus / Instagram @radiantcircus
Hi everyone!
I’m taking a short holiday so will be cutting down on the number of posts whilst keeping the flagship sailing with these weekly Screen Guides (i.e. no daily emails or IG posts). I’ll still be working on my various screening projects, so I won’t be going quiet exactly, but it’s time to take a short break from being quite so lost in the bowels of WordPress…
That means that subscribers to THE BALLY will also get the full weekly screen guide instead of a summary for the cinema weeks commencing 08 July, 15 July and 22 July. Normal business to resume after that!
Hope you have a great time at the cinema, and thank you for all your support for the various projects I’m creating at RADIANT CIRCUS and TOKEN HOMO.
See you in the darkness, and stay safe.
Richard // RADIANT CIRCUS
PS – If you want to plan ahead, I’ve finally caught up with the month and published my latest epic roundup of what’s on across London’s rep seasons & film festivals.
DR. WHO: CLASSIC MOVIE DOUBLE-BILL – DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS (1965) + DALEK’S INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D. (1966) New 4K Restorations at:
- ArtHouse Crouch End (10 JUL 15:30); Barbican (10 JUL 13:45); Curzon Cinemas (10 JUL 14:30); Olympic Studios (10 JUL 10:30); Peckhamplex (10 JUL 12:45); Phoenix Cinema (10 JUL 14:00); Picturehouse Cinemas (10 JUL various); Regent Street Cinema (10 JUL 13:30); Riverside Studios (10 JUL 14:00).
“Lovingly restored and remastered in 4K, hop into our time machine and explore this Dr. Who Classic Movie Double-Bill starring Peter Cushing as the famous Timelord.
DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS (1965) was the first big screen film adaptation of British TV’s most iconic sci-fi hero, and the first time Doctor Who was ever seen in colour. Having invented the TARDIS, a strange machine capable of travelling into other dimensions, the Doctor and his three young accomplices set forth on a quest through time and space.
DALEK’S INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D. (1966) sees Cushing return to the big screen – the future of Planet Earth now belongs to The Daleks, but deep within the London Underground a group of resistance freedom fighters are planning an attack. Can The Doctor help them succeed in destroying their extra-terrestrial enemies and take back control of Earth?
The films, which are to date the only big-screen outings for the Doctor, also boast a beloved supporting cast including Bernard Cribbins, Roberta Tovey, Roy Castle and Jennie Linden. Despite not being part of the official BBC Doctor Whoniverse, these films have remained firm favourites amongst fans, and are much loved across the world.”
