We shared tweets from The Garden Cinema last week which led to a feeding frenzy of takers for their splendid launch offer: 500 free lifetime memberships for the first 500 takers. This seemed like a welcome beginning for the new privately owned two screen art-house cinema on Parker Street, Covent Garden.
Sadly, further announcements via email to their new members on Friday and subsequently updated on their website have confirmed that the cinema is now postponing its opening night indefinitely as it considers public gatherings “a risk to people’s health” because of the coronavirus.
No revised launch date is offered other than a promise to open “as soon as it’s safe to do so”. All screening details, including news of their opening seasons, have been taken down temporarily.
Follow them on Twitter or keep coming back here for further updates.
And that’s the meat of it…
