NOW BOOKING: CINEMATIC OBSESSIONS at Deptford Cinema (11 JUN to 29 JUL)
Obsessive behaviour is the rocket fuel that propels RADIANT CIRCUS through the universe of London’s alternative cinema scene. Now Deptford Cinema has launched a new season that looks at CINEMATIC OBSESSIONS and we invite you along for the ride (11 JUN to 29 JUL).

Volunteer film programmer Owen Van Spall has a confession to make: “Those of us who are obsessive about cinema know full well that the medium allows us to delve into our deepest desires and obsessions; the joy and community to be found in pursuing your passion, as well as the cautionary tales that obsessive behaviour can bring.”
It’s some of those cautionary tales we love the most at RADIANT CIRCUS and we’re pleased to see that Deptford Cinema has tagged each film in their programme so that we can get down and dirty with our deviant desires… Naturally, our heart goes to Peter Strickland’s really rather wonderful film THE DUKE OF BURGUNDY and not only (but maybe…) because of those tags: LOVE/SEX/POWER/CONTROL.
The Deptford Cinema programme screens as part of a nationwide Film Feels campaign which explores cinematic obsessions with the help of funds from the National Lottery (a natural fit when you think about it…). As Owen puts it: “On offer is a rich feast of genres, icons and subtext for audiences to sink their teeth into.” And we really think you should.
CINEMATIC OBSESSIONS screens at Deptford Cinema (11 JUN to 29 JUL 2019).

DEPTFORD CINEMA
It might be small with only 40 seats but its programme is perfectly formed. The “community cinema for Lewisham” features in our listings for its strong commitment to world cinema (highlights include the cinemas of Korea and Latin America) and nimble thematic strands that bring its programme to life with regular flourishes of wit (their Alternative Royal Wedding was a 2018 favourite…), preparedness to swim against the tide of worthiness (GREETINGS FROM TROMAVILLE) and passion (anything Amos Levin projects from 16mm). How community cinema should be done.
