NOW BOOKING: Irish Film London presents DATING AMBER at Rio Cinema (08 AUG 15:45)
DATING AMBER d. David Freyne, 2020
Presented by Irish Film London at Rio Cinema (08 AUG 15:45) // BOOKING NOW!
In an affecting comedy drama, director David Freyne presents the story of LGBTQ+ teens, Amber and Eddie, who are having a hard time at school from homophobic bullies in 1990s Ireland. They form a secret alliance and agree to date for show to stave off the aggression as they dream of their futures.
This is Freyne’s sophomore feature, having previously brought us THE CURED (2017) featuring Sam Keeley and Elliot Page. Lead actors Fionn O’Shea (NORMAL PEOPLE) and Lola Petticrew (BLOODLANDS) demonstrate the depth of their off-screen friendship in a pair of roles seemingly built for them. The result is a powerful exploration of teenage sexual identity which transcends its period setting.
Part of “The Irish for Hope”; a series of screenings from Irish Film London made possible with funding from Film Feels Hopeful, a UK-wide cinema season, supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. Explore all films and events at filmfeels.co.uk
