Submit your #LDNindieFILM Love Story!

SUPPORT #LDNindieFILM // Given that we can’t produce our usual indie event listings, we’re keen to throw our pages open to our wonderful readers to keep the content flowing! It’s time to submit your #LDNindieFILM Love Stories!

UPDATE 05 MAY: We’ll keep submissions open until cinemas are open again. When we can start listing London’s indie film events again we’ll pick our favourite Love Stories and gift the creators a free year of cinema listings.

> Thanks to our monthly subscribers & donors for the chance to give something back.

Our SUPPORT #LDNindieFILM campaign is all about celebrating the old-fashioned joys of doing things in the dark with strangers. This is particularly important as our favourite indie venues and events across London are facing an economic crisis of their own. Without continued audience support, we run the risk of losing the much-loved venues and events that bring this city to life every time they plunge us into darkness.

You can SUPPORT #LDNindieFILM by sending us a Love Story about:

      • your favourite film venue or festival;
      • an indie film event that blew your mind;
      • an indie film tribe you are proud to be part of.

For inspiration, read Edgar Wright’s article about The Importance Of Saving The Big Screen Experience (over at Empire Magazine) or our own Barker-In-Chief’s personal love affair with the social side of cinema (Part One & Part Two). You can submit:

      • a brief encounter (a short piece about why you love your favourite indie – 50 to 200 words?);
      • a longer piece about how it happened one night (up to 500 words/a one-pager?);
      • a titanic account of how you fell in love (now your relationship is – temporarily! – on ice / maybe 1,000 words/a two-pager?).

Of course, your #LDNindieFILM Love Story doesn’t need to be told in words. Maybe you’re an artist or an illustrator, a songwriter or photographer? In which case, send us:

      • a sketch of your favourite venue;
      • a piece inspired by an amazing film event;
      • a portrait of your fave rockstar exhibitor.

> Quite simply, what is it you love about #LDNindieFILM?

All we ask is that you follow guidelines about staying at home and social distancing when creating your Love Story (DON’T go out to take new photographs & collaborate safely/remotely). We also ask that you own the rights to whatever you submit so we can credit the right people and avoid getting into trouble.

We will collect, compile and share the #LDNindieFILM Love Stories we receive on our website and across social media as the shutdown continues. If we get enough amazing submissions, we will publish a limited edition zine as our unique bit of COVID-19 memorabilia, finding another way to help promote and preserve #LDNindieFILM. But that’s over to how creative you can be…

> Submit your Love Story online using this handy form.

We will get through this. Working together (at a safe social distance!) makes that even more likely.

See you in darkness again soon,

Richard – Barker-In-Chief, RADIANT CIRCUS
