STORM DAMAGE d. Simon Cellan Jones, 2000 + Panel discussion with Ashley Walters, Adrian Lester, Kate Ashfield & Alexis Rodney at BFI Southbank (13 APR 18:00).

“Screening for only the second time in 23 years and written by the actor-screenwriter Lennie James, STORM DAMAGE is an emotionally powerful, imaginative and complex portrayal of the experiences of young people living within a care home in Brixton’s Angel Town. In this culturally significant story, Danny (Adrian Lester) is an idealistic Black teacher-turned-care worker whose major challenge lies in turning the home’s primary delinquent Stefan (Ashley Walters) away from the negative and potentially fatal influence of local gangster Boniface (James). Achieving a cult status this very rare screening will hopefully help to rehabilitate this important film’s place in the history of Black culture on TV. Please check back for confirmation of guests.” (BFI)
