BRONCO BULLFROG d. Barney Platts-Mills, 1969 + Pre-film DJ Jeffrey Munday + Short: STROLLS d. Amir Bech, presented by Rebel Reel Cine Club at Archway Tavern N19 (13 OCT 19:00).
“A screening of Barney Platts-Mills’ powerful and authentic 1969 film, which tells the story of Del (Del Walker), a bored young apprentice, and his 15-year-old girlfriend Irene (Anne Gooding). Largely improvised by its East London teenage cast, this seminal youth film offers a fascinating record of the then-emerging suedehead subculture.”
“Before the film, DJ Jeffrey Munday will play ‘the type of stuff we were listening to at youth clubs at the time’ accompanied by photographer Gavin Watson’s images of the subcultures that were to evolve from the youth scene portrayed in the film. Iranian artist and ‘datagrapher’ Amir Bech’s short film STROLLS, a digital artwork inspired by BRONCO BULLFROG will also screen before the main feature. Each ticket comes with a complimentary comb from Kent Brushes established in 1777.” (Rebel Reel Cine Club)
