#QueerHorrorNights presents a very special event at the historic Rio Cinema – our Halloween Monsters Ball: NIGHTBREED (28 OCT 22:00+).

KAILI BLUES d. Bi Gan, 2015 + Short presented by Baesianz Cinema Club at Spanners SW9 (05 OCT 19:00).

“???????? ?????? ???? will be showcasing some of the best, subversive and iconic Asian films from across the continent. For each screening, we will invite an emerging filmmaker to screen one of their short films as well as a feature film selected by them.”

“Kicking us off, we’ll be showing the short film by April Lin 林森 “(Tending) (to) (Ta): Morning Offering” (2021). (Tending) (to) (Ta): Morning Offering, is the opening scene of (Tending) (to) (Ta), a narrative-led speculative fiction which follows an exchange of internal letters between two protagonists who imagine one another across parallel dimensions.”

“April has selected the film “Kaili Blues” (2015) by Bi Gan. An audacious, richly imagined feature debut that has collected prizes around the world, Kaili Blues heralds the arrival of a major new filmmaker. Chen, a preoccupied doctor working in a small clinic in the rain-drenched city of Kaili, decides to fulfill his late mother’s wish and sets off on a journey to look for his brother’s abandoned child. His partner in the clinic, a lonely old lady, asks him to also find her former lover, giving him a photograph, a shirt, and a music cassette. On the way, Chen passes through a mysterious town where distinctions between past, present, and future appear to slip away.”
