Pink Palace: A WOMAN’S TORMENT d. Roberta Findlay, 1977 + Intro/discussion with Molly Miles in the Rio Cinema basement bar (26 OCT 19:30).
“For the first time ever in the UK, bear witness to the mental disintegration of one Karen Compton. Living with her sister Frances and her sister’s husband Don, Karen’s loosening grip on reality begins to put a strain on their marriage. When Karen hears that the couple plan to have her committed to an asylum, she runs away to the beach – where her worsening mental state combined with an insatable sex drive leads to a bloodlust beyond compare!”
“Roberta Findlay plays tribute to Repulsion in illustrious sexplotation style, as A Woman’s Torment spans genres to create probably the best slasher-cum-melodrama-cum-sexplotation ever made! The rarely screened film features a soundtrack by Walter Sear (Let’s Scare Jessica To Death), as well as a performance from famed hardcore actress Jennifer Jordan.”
“A Woman’s Torment was originally released with an X certification, and contains scenes of a hardcore sexual nature. The Rio was once a porn cinema, and this screening is partly a tribute to this heritage, although ‘active participation’ is not encouraged. Please bear this in mind in regards to the film’s content! The film will be introduced by writer and sexplotation enthusiast Molly Miles.” (Rio Cinema)
