WunderKammer Live [17 SEP 2021]: So Mayer from Club des Femmes to talk about LESBIAN CAMP.

Celebrating Club des Femmes’ LESBIAN CAMP WEEKENDER at Rio Cinema, So will talk about the importance of collaboration for recontextualising feminist camp/classics, and about the need for queer and trans joy and embodiment in and beyond the screen.

Club des Femmes are a queer feminist film curation collective. They curate film screenings and events. Their mission is to offer a freed up space for the re-examination of ideas through art. In the age of the sound-bite, Club des Femmes is a much-needed open platform for more radical contextualisation and forward-looking future vision: a chance to look beyond the mainstream.

So Mayer is a member of the Club des Femmes collective, and the author of several books about queer and feminist cinemas. They will be talking about CDF’s LESBIAN CAMP WEEKENDER at Rio Cinema (funded by BFI FAN, awarding funds from the National Lottery), which brought together several generations of queer and trans feminist films and viewers. Representing the collective (including co-programmers Jenny Clarke, Ania Ostrowska, and Selina Robertson), So will talk about the importance of collaboration for recontextualising feminist camp/classics, and about the need for queer and trans joy and embodiment in and beyond the screen.

So will be speaking at WunderKammer Live, a new showcase & networking event for everyone who creates & cares about alternative screen culture in London.
