Repetition as Differentiation via LATIFAH AND HIMLI’S NOMADIC UNCLE curated by Jemma Desai, presented online by The Cinema of Ideas (05 to 20 DEC 2022).
Curated by writer and researcher Jemma Desai, the new season offering is curated by Jemma Desai, a London-based programmer, and considers the relationship between repetition and differentiation in film programming via Alnoor Dewshi’s short film LATIFAH AND HIMLI’S NOMADIC UNCLE.
Jemma will introduce the season through a performance lecture entitled “where I come from we don’t worry about where we come from” on 5 December, after which the film will stream until 20 December.
On 7 December from 6-7pm, film and cultural relations consultant Jo Duncombe will join Jemma in a live conversation about the season which will include a Q&A on the themes raised in the programme.
During the season Jemma will also be exchanging voice, text and audio with artist Jack Ky Tan, reflecting on ideas brought up by the season, and their conversation will be shared at the end of the event.
