“You will know her name.”

Queer filmmaker Kimberly Peirce’s vision of Stephen King’s coming-of-age classic offers a fresh take on horror’s most infamous mother-daughter relationship, re-imagining Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz) as an outcast young woman, taught to be ugly and shamed on the internet, who finds a way to step into her power.

Join Queer Horror Nights for our special screening of CARRIE, a twisted feminist superhero origin story where Carrie White wreaks extraordinary havoc for the sins of her high school bullies. Oh, and did we mention Julianne Moore going full-bore evangelist as Carrie’s over-protective mom? Not even Judy Greer can save the day.

As well as our usual special features about the film and bar social after the screening, we’ll be donating a percentage of box office and holding a special prize draw to raise funds for our friends at Wish, a women’s mental health charity based in Tower Hamlets. Their Community Link project supports women with multiple complex needs who may have been detained in prison or secure hospital and are now resettling in communities across London. Helping women regain control of their own stories really does make a difference.

  • Starring: Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Gabriella Wilde, Portia Doubleday, Ansel Elgort, Judy Greer, Barry Shabaka Henley
  • Director: Kimberly Peirce
