As the Russian Federation’s unprovoked military invasion of Ukraine continues to escalate, we are coming together in solidarity with Ukraine to raise funds for humanitarian aid and to encourage sustained support from London.
Join The People’s Film Club from 2pm on Saturday 12th March for stalls, art, and conversation in Genesis bar before our 3pm screening of THE EARTH IS BLUE AS AN ORANGE. Exquisitely shot and bold in its approach, director Iryna Tsilyk’s documentary follows single mother Anna and her four children as they document their lives under siege in Ukraine. The film won Tsilyk the ‘World Cinema Documentary’ directing award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
Following the film, we will be joined by panellists to discuss the reality of life in Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and the role of global solidarity. All funds raised will be donated to grassroots organisations providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine – with a focus on medical provision and refugee support.
This screening is a partnership between The People’s Film Club, the Ukrainian Institute in London, Cambridge Ukrainian Studies, and London Migration Film Festival.
The venue is wheelchair accessible. For any specific access requirements, please contact thepeoplesfilmclub@gmail.com or info@genesis-cinema.co.uk, and we will do our best to accommodate. As always, if you would like to come, but are not in a position to purchase a ticket, please email thepeoplesfilmclub@gmail.com.
