Welcome to another screen week!

Just a quick note to let you know that there won’t be daily posts this week! So, brew yourself a strong cuppa and browse through this packed screen guide at your leisure. It’s horror season, and there’s a lot of scary shows across town, both big and considerably more intimate, vanilla and fetish, indoors and out…

See you in the darkness, and stay safe.

Halloween Monsters Ball: NIGHTBREED d. Clive Barker, 1990 + Pre-show with Loose Willis, main screen hosting by Baby Lame & interval show from Co Kendrah presented with a costume, kink & fetish-friendly dress code by Queer Horror Nights at Rio Cinema (28 OCT 22:00+):

“The Stonewall Riot of monster movies” (Token Homo), NIGHTBREED is about the fantastical monsters of Midian, a subterranean haven where all kinds of creature shelter from their human oppressors. Aaron Boone (Craig Sheffer) is trying to resist the lure of Midian with the help of his girlfriend Lori (Anne Bobby) and a sinister shrink (David Cronenberg). Realising he’s being framed for a series of sickening murders, Boone seeks refuge amongst the NIGHTBREED before they too must rise…”

“You’re invited to ‘bring your freak’ with our costume, kink and fetish-friendly dress code (just cover your bum and bits!). Join drag king Loose Willis for our pre-show in the Rio foyer from 10pm before punk-horror host Baby Lame drags you into Midian on the main stage from 11:15pm. Drag creature Co Kendrah will provide a gory gothic interval show. There’ll be changing facilities, a ‘Carnival of the Creatures’ with prizes for best look, and a very late licence.” (Queer Horror Nights).
