Ciné-Real 16mm Film Club presents a spectacular series of 16mm screenings at The Castle Cinema (booking to 28 MAY 2023)
Kings of celluloid Ümit & Liam who run Ciné-Real Film Club continue their spectacular 16mm screenings at The Castle Cinema (now booking to 28 MAY 2023).
Submitted by The Castle Cinema
Kings of celluloid Ümit and Liam run one of London’s most distinctive and popular film clubs at The Castle Cinema – the Ciné-Real 16mm Film Club – where all of their screenings are projected from 16mm (with the occasional Super 8!).
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to see the original home cinema edition of THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE on Super 8, or have the legendary projectionist (Ümit) hand-spool the last 16mm reel of a Spielberg classic onto the floor following a projector fault, then this is definitely the film club for you!
Each Ciné-Real 16mm Film Club show begins with a fascinating introduction (worth the price of admission alone!), and the films all play from original film prints – some of which have taken the team years to track down and source.
They have built an incredibly loyal following with tickets flying off the shelf for screening after screening. Most films get shown twice (typically on a Thursday and Sunday at the end of the month), but there’s an increasing number of solo-exhibits as the audience builds for what they do. Dee Swift, programmer and founder of The Castle Cinema has this to say about why they are so special:
“Each Ciné-Real screening is a real celebration of cinema. Not only a wonderful chance to see classics on the big screen, but a chance to see real cinema history. Each of these prints has a tale to tell”
There truly isn’t an event like it. The films for the new season are on sale now, and pretty much always sell out, so advanced booking is essential.
