As of this evening (20 MAR), venues including cinemas have been told to close indefinitely “as soon as they reasonably can”. The government commits to pay 80% of wages of all staff “furloughed” until the COVID-19 outbreak passes.

In a move that we hope will help preserve independent film venues across London, the government has formally demanded that they close as of this evening whilst also committing to pay 80% of staff wages for the period in which they are furloughed.
The situation will be reviewed monthly but restrictions on social contact are considered to be necessary for much of the rest of this year.
Further measures have been announced to help freelance and gig-economy workers, although efforts here still seem less-well developed.
We will keep you updated as further announcements are made.
Please read our London Venue A to Z to find out how you can support your favourite indie cinema at this time of crisis. They will still need your help.
See you in darkness again soon…
